Terms and Conditions of the Counselling (T&Cs) Agreement with Margherita Sacca (“the Counsellor” and “I”):
1. HOW TO SECURE A SLOT FOR AN APPOINTMENT:
a. The upfront payment of £75 per session will be the client’s confirmation of the booking, and until I receive the payment the slot will be available to other clients. The booking of appointments will be considered completed only when the payment has been received, and – in the case of first consultations or when T&Cs are updated – also when the client has emailed me back stating that they agree with my Terms and Conditions, including in their reply the personal and contact details requested in point 3.d. of this Agreement.
b. After the first session if both the client and I agree to go ahead with further sessions, these will be booked monthly at the end of the session, either in blocks of 2 with the upfront payment of £150 (fortnightly appointments), or in blocks of 4 with the upfront payment of £300 (weekly appointments). Variation in some measure can be subject to mutual availability.
c. I can hold payments only up to one month from the date I receive them. If by that time window I do not hear back from the client regarding the arrangement of an appointment or of a refund, that will mean that the client does not wish to have either, and from then it will not be possible to use that payment to arrange an appointment, nor to issue a refund.
d. Please use the complete first name and only the first letter of the surname of the person attending the session/s, as reference for the payment. So, for example if the client’s name was William Wallace, the reference on the bank transfer would be WilliamW.

2. PRIVACY AND CONFIDENTIALITY
a. I will store the client’s contact details in my records, to send them confirmation and reminder emails and texts. The clinic will email a welcome message and newsletter. The client can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time; this will not affect the bookings. I will share the clients’ telephone numbers and email only with the clinic automated system, and I will not share the client’s home address with third parties, except only with the clinic if strictly necessary.
b. I write very brief notes, they are not shareable, and I destroy them once a client no longer attends regularly (i.e. weekly or fortnightly). If a client wishes for me to share information regarding our session with another health professional, with work or education, or for special adjustment and benefit, I can write a letter or have a telephone call with the professional/institution the client wishes me to share the info with. I will not be able to share information nor notes for forensic purposes.
c. I delete emails periodically, about every six months.
d. I will not share the content of the conversations had during sessions. Please note that in case of extreme risk of harm (i.e., but not only, suicidal intentions) I will make a safety plan with the client, and I will have to make sure that the client’s GP is aware of the extreme risk of harm. Part of the safety plan is that if at any point I feel that the client is at severe risk of harm, and I cannot reach them, I will reach to the next of kin whose contacts the client provides as part of this agreement.
e. I might refer generically and anonymously to cases, in terms of case-studies for academic or educational purposes, or in counselling work, and when undertaking clinical supervision with a professionally senior counsellor.
f. I can be contacted via email only to arrange appointments, and therapeutic work can be done in presence, video-call or telephone if previously agreed, but never via email.
3. BEFORE THE APPOINTMENT and CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY:
a. Booking and payment policy:
At the end of the session, I will take about 5 to 10 minutes to write the notes alone, the rest of the hour – 50 minutes – is face-to-face with the client, and the fee is taken at the time of booking, through bank payment.
b. Cancellation and rescheduling policy:
Appointments can be cancelled or rescheduled with no less than two working days’ notice to avoid full charge. Within two weeks of the date of the rescheduling/cancellation request I will need to hear back from the client regarding the arrangement of the new appointment or refund, to avoid the full charge. After twice I received a cancellation/rescheduling request with two working day notice, I will then ask for the longer notice period of one week in advance, to be able to reschedule without incurring in the full charge. Exceptional cases will be taken into consideration, and for cancellation/rescheduling with shorter notice than requested, a waver or a one-off reduction of fee for the new appointment following the cancelled/missed/rescheduled one might still be granted at my discretion.
c. The counsellor’s contact details:
The client can contact me by email margheritasacca@gmail.com, which is the most effective way for me to communicate with the client; the client is advised and encouraged to contact me directly to discuss any changes to appointments, rather than emailing only through the clinic automated system. As per point 2.f of the present agreement, I can be contacted via email only to arrange appointments, and therapeutic work can be done in presence, video-call or telephone if previously agreed, but never via email.
d. The client’s contact details and personal details:

The client, to confirm that they accept this Terms and Conditions and this Counselling Agreement, need to fill and email me back the following Statement of Agreement, complete of all details:
4. The client, by emailing me back they agree with my Terms and Conditions, they agree to all the above, as our Counselling Agreement.
